Being ripped off by couriers

Options
So in the last two weeks I have bought items from shops on eBay. On both occasions, the delivery date has passed and when I have checked the tracking number, they have said delivered and signed for. On both occasions I was in when the deliveries were supposed to of been made, on the first occasion, I even got a text from the courier an hour after the delivered time to say it would be late! The first courier, UK Mail, will not reply to emails and the second courier, TNT, are looking into it but it seems if the courier says it was signed for then I don't have a leg to stand on with regards to eBay, PayPal or the seller.
The sum of the two items lost is £60.
Does anyone have experience of this?

Are you sure your address details are correct on eBay and Paypal?

As far as both of those companies are concerned if the tracking shows as delivered (from a location near to your address) then you will lose INR disputes. Was there any indication on the tracking that the address they have gone to is not yours?

What did the sellers say? Did you ask them to confirm which address they used?
  • On both occasions, the tracking verified the correct address and quoted my surname for the signature, although TNT spelt it wrong!
Update, TNT have spoken to the driver who says he left it with a builder so didn't have my signature and there is no building in my road. At least TNT are looking into it.

So as per my post above - what did the sellers say?

I don't want to experience this so it's really important to check the delivery fee first before ordering any products online.
