I've had my PC quite a few years and im getting the blue screen more regular now so time for a replacement .
Theres so much choice im baffled
I only use it browsing the internet and the odd spreadsheet and the only games i play are via Facebook
Im only looking to spend around £200 or cheaper if possible
Found these 2 to start

Blue screen sounds like could be a sotware problem rather than hardware (although it could be hardware of course eg memory fault)
Before buying a new desktop you could backup your data and then do a clean install of windows (I assume windows) see if it runs any better.
(if running windows 10 you can easily do a re-install reset)0 -
The linked Amazon one is way better than the Argos one, despite being a refurb. A solid state drive is a good idea but 128GB would be enough for you (unless you have lots of music/photos). e.g.

2 things to check:- 1. ensure your monitor will connect to the box (I assume you currently have VGA) 2. if you connect to your router via wifi check the computer has wifi (cheap to buy an adapter though).
There may be better/cheaper places to buy refurb. Wait for some more replies here.If you put your general location in your Profile, somebody here may be able to come and help you.0 -
If you happy with second hand, you probably can find 6th gen i5 or 4th gen i7 on ebay.

I bought a refurbished Dell Optiplex 7010 (i7, 16GB ram, 128GB SSD, Win 10 home, DVD ROM) on eBay. It was £220 delivered. It's a very fast machine and drives a pair of monitors easily.
There will be some who turn their noses up at an old refurbished Dell, but they have updated bios (July 2018), pass a test for Spectre and Meltdown (most PCs fail), have lots of USB ports and take up little desk space. The only downside is they don't usually come with a DVD writer or WiFi, USB external ones are cheap enough though (£12 for a writer).0 -
Avoid packard bell imedia s3730Selling off the UK's gold reserves at USD 276 per ounce was a really good idea, which I will not citicise in any way.0

if you google the cpu benchmarks of the new i3 vs old i7, the top novetech one https://www.novatech.co.uk/pc/range/novatechpronui22.html
vs

there is negligible difference. One site says the i3 is marginally quicker, another two sites say the benchmarks for the i7 is quicker. Novatech needs windows extra (+£120) but has an ssd, while the other has a disk so is slower on boot but has windows installed.
there is £150 difference (or £270 if you get windows through them), and if you really need an ssd for the HP you can purchase one for under £250 -
