No longer need breakdown cover - can I leave running to avoid cancellation charges?

Can anyone tell me - I have just sold my car today and no longer need breakdown cover with Autoaid. I bought it in March as a one off payment of around £44 on my debit card. I no longer require the cover but do not want to end up paying out to cancel it. My question is: Can I just leave the cover in place until it runs out?

Just forget it, you may be able to transfer to new car?

My AA cover will auto-renew if I do not cancel it. I didnt want any auto-renew, I have sent them an email to cancel.
    This auto-renew should be outlawed.
My AA cover will be £150+, I will get something roundabout £50, its a scam.

Unless it’s changed Autoaid covers you for any car even as a passenger I think so the cover is still useful and no you don’t need to cancel it.

I don't need the policy on my new car. I'm concerned about it auto-renewing because I am moving home and won't be around when the policy runs out and won't have any postal redirection by then. I paid on my debit card not direct debit. I don't want to phone up and them say I need to cancel it. I've just had to fork out £65 today to come out of my insurance policy and don't want another cancellation charge for this. Does Autoaid automatically renew at the end of a policy?

    What does your policy say?
AA is not against a specific vehicle: it covers you and your spouse for any vehicle.
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)

The AA do both, you can either cover the vehicle or yourself.

We are discussing an AutoAid policy, not the AA (Automobile Association). The AA do indeed auto-renew (at a greatly increased fee), I'm not aware that Autoaid do so.

They aren't going to charge you more than the cost of the remaining policy to cancel it.

Do you know that for sure? It can certainly happen with other forms of insurance.

Even if it does auto-renew just make a note to call them a couple of weeks before the date and tell them that you don't want to renew.
