Post office verification question

I know this is probably not he wrong thread. Can I send someone else to the post office to get my identity document signed and certified?

The whole point of getting a copy document signed and certified is that the person signing it is agreeing that the person is the person they say they are i.e. they would need to see you!

As far as I know (correct me if I am wrong) all the Post Office document certification really does is certify that the photocopy of the document you produce is a true likeness of the original document that you produce.

They might ask questions if you come in asking for a certified copy of someone else's documents (eg. passport/license) but perhaps if you have a signed statement by the person concerned (ideally with a signature the same as that on the identity document) stating that they have given you permission to do this for them that may help. If in doubt I'd contact the post office directly to ask before you turn up to avoid any potential problems.

I admit I don't know for sure, so maybe someone who does will come along soon.
But it's correct that the PO are certifying that the copy is a true likeness of the original doc... not that you look like your passport photo (thank god )

However PO's words on the forms muddy the water by sticking religiously to 'YOUR documents', not 'THE documents'.

Maybe best checking before turning up, maybe queueing and get an embarrassing flea in the ear.
