New induction hob tripping main switch

Hi, I am in desperate need of help. Just had a brand new induction hob installed which works but then trips the whole circuit box when switched off at main switch (white box, red switch) so there is no other plug socket with this. Had the 'Samsung' engineer out, twice, but couldn't find a fault, told me it was the electrical switch, also had my electrician out, twice (third time tonight), done all necessary tests and it's fine. No one seems to be willing to say what the fault is and I have a brand new kitchen which I can't use. The Kitchen is a brand new build so has had all new wiring and it's own circuit box. Any ideas would be gratefully received.

Are you switching it off at the wall while one or more of the rings is still on?

Why are you switching the hob off at the wall switch? It looks like an earth leakage problem, get another sparkie.

  • Try replacing the wall switch. It may be opening the L and N poles at dissimilar times, which together with suppression filters in the hob electronics might be causing a momentary L-N imbalance???

Is this the overload protection trip or the leak detection tripping.

If you have 16A supply and a 30A hob you are overloading the circuit and that could cause tripping. This might be the more likely cause.

This would also be my suspicion.

  • Seems induction is a black art so it could be the cooker - register the fault with the company you bought it from by email and send them a copy too by recorded deliver - The Rangemaster induction hob we bought from John Lewis has packed up just after two years and we left high and dry with Rangemaster refusing to assist and John Lewis being nye on useless also!
