Hi
Just wondering if anyone can advise on the below.
My father in law has been living in a retirement home for the last 5 years. He had a Electric key meter installed to allow his ex partner to continue living at the property some years ago. She left leaving the property vacant for several years.
The tariff had a standing charge on it which was not paid, we are in the process of sorting this out. BG disconnected the meter a couple of weeks ago and closed the account just before we were ready to refurbish the house for mobility use.

My wife has just gained power of attorney.
So how do we organise an new credit meter and whos name would it be under? My wife as she is his daughter or my Father in law?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The property is still in the name of my father in law. He is not able to communicate very well hence the POA.
  • It should be in the name of the father with the daughter noted on the account as having POA.

In reality whoever wants electricity can ask for reconnection (although there may be a charge or deposit required)
A kind word lasts a minute, a skelped erse is sair for a day.
