If applying for financial products from the address that you live in, won't that be classed as the main residence and therefore be classed as renter ?

Homeowner as you own a home.

The rented property is a business, it always amazes me that people who have a residential property they rent out seem to not understand it is a business even if its a former home they used to live in. They don't live in it so it isn't their home. They currently rent and can move at the drop of a hat. They are renters for the purposes of loans etc.

The pedantic answer would be that you are a renter on the basis that the specific question is are you a homeowner - not are you a property owner.

In our case the property that I own is rented out and the one that I live in is solely in the name of my partner but I would answer 'yes' to the 'are you a homeowner?' question. Usually because there is no other box on most forms that is appropriate to my circumstances.
