Old Style Daily Wednesday 15th August 2018

This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

    Morning everyone

I went shopping in the City where I lived when I was married yesterday, and bumped into my ex-husband. I didn’t recognise him at first. I was pleasantly surprised that neither of us felt awkward and after exchanging a few pleasantries we went for a coffee and a catch up. It was nice to hear about members of his extended family.

I didn’t get the gifts I need for a couple of birthdays in September but I have got time yet. I will have to give some more thought to what to get them. One is for my nephew and one for my elderly neighbour, although I think she may prefer it if I took her out for lunch.

The spaghetti Bolognese I made yesterday was really good so I froze one portion and will have the other portion tonight. I don’t mind having the same meal two days running.

Gers it is good that your mum is well enough now for you to spend time at your home.

Tru was a really good send off for your nan.

Csarina it is good news that they have sorted out the care package for your OH and he is well enough to come home today.

TA thinking of you and Mr TA xx

Snoozer I hope that you all enjoyed the Tattoo yesterday.

Lainey I was pleased to hear that your sister in law is doing ok.

I hope that you all have a decent day.

    Morning Everyone,

Early one for me. Need to be out and on the bus early over to DMs EA and then up to house where my DD is coming to see house to see what she wants to take/keep. Going to be emotional as she does not like coming into the house.

    SC meal tonight.

Have a good day everyone x

    Morning folks.

Raining! My plan for today is to get some rest in between prepping for work. My tummy is rather upset this morning so nothing too far from home is going to happen.

Thoughts are with the poorlies. For all I wish a happy Wednesday.

    Morning everyone

hollyharvey - thanks for starting us off x

Hugs to those that want/need one x

Happy birthday to those with a birthday x

Cloudy and dull here but warm and humid.

DH up and gone to work, DS1 gone to work also, DS2 still in his pit, will wake him shortly.

Dinner last night was going to be disjointed, due to me going to fat club to get weighed, but I managed to get sorted at home so went early and lost 2lb which is good but I had hoped for more on my first week, although the wine on Sunday may have sabotaged my efforts. I'm going to swap a few things about this week and see if that helps. I also suspect I may not be eating enough. We'll see. Dinner tonight is going to be chicken in french country sauce for the menfolk, I'll have just gravy with mine, new pots and veg.

Work yesterday wasn't as busy as it has been, so had chance to catch up with emails and stuff that needed following up. Last day of work for me this week, and I'm then on days' off until Monday so a whole weekend off. Although I have a to go in for a meeting tomorrow.

I have the normal "to do" list which I'll work through over the coming days.

    Keep safe and well x

    Morning All

Pouring down this morning, real rain not the drizzle we've been having.

Survived the first day back yesterday, spent most of the time sorting emails and clearing the post, really must get the registers done today!
Useless colleague still useless, all he did all day was empty the recycling bins! Other colleague went home sick after half an hour, we'll see what today brings.

Had a haircut after work then sat and did nothing all evening, I was pooped!

Pleased to hear OH will be home today Csarina.
Sounds like a good send off for your Nan tru, glad you were involved.
Well done on the weight loss nmlc.
    Hope your tummy improves Gers.

Have a happy Wednesday, take care. XX

    Morning all

Its a bit overcast here atm but meant to be brighter later on, bouncy castles at work today so expecting it to be busy, the new caf! is supposed to be opening Monday (supposedly !!) so it will be all change again !

Dinner tonight is the burgers we did not have last night, after a long day at work I just shoved some pizza in and made a salad which was very tasty, so we will have the burgers tonight.

A new cleaning lady is coming round Tuesday to have a look, hopefully this one will work out (third time lucky !!) also have the plumber coming to permanently mend the leak (he did a temp job) and so we can get hot water put back on and get the lichen back to normal (floor replaced and end panels and skirting put back on etc.

Right better get on have good days all xx

Hugs to those in need xx

    Good morning everyone :hello:
I am just popping on briefly as my grandchildren are about to burst through the door to stay with us for the day as their mum and stepdad are working. The kids are asleep at the minute but that will change shortly :rotfl:.

Well done nmlc on your weightloss, 2lb is a good amount especially after wine :)
I hope you are soon feeling better Gers, something I ate yesterday mightily disagreed with me and it made for a very uncomfortable evening :o:o.
I hope it all goes smoothly csarina for your DH's arrival x
Hugs for the TA's too xx

Posh sausages and mash for tea tonight, the fridge is looking bare again, I just can't seem to keep it filled :eek: The perils of hungry teens :D.
Hope you all have a great day whatever you are up to, take care xx

    Morning :)

Grey again. Really miss waking up to blue skies its so much better for mood.

Banana gazing yesterday then lunch at the pub. We both had a slice of homemade mince and onion plate pie with thrice cooked chips and mushy peas ....proper Wigan meal :D

Work skype call this morning this morning which I hate due to the necessity of dressing for work for a half hour call. Anyway hoping to get a bit more focus from this customer then we can get the work done soon. August is always quiet in my job but seems even worse this year guess I should just make the most of it.

Food today will be a bit lighter after yesterday or maybe a chicken curry I do have a jar of balti sauce so may chuck that in

Hope the news was better than expected for the TAs yesterday. Always on my mind x

Gers look after yourself today you deserve a chill day

    Tru the funeral sounded beautiful

redruby 3 cleaners!! What are you doing to them :D I would love a cleaner but would always feel the need to clean before they came :o

    Have a great day all
  • Nelski, my DD often does her skype calls in business dress from the waist up and PJ's on the bottom half.
    Chin up, Titus out.
