    Electoral Roll.

Yes, he's on the ER there, has been for the past 2 years I believe.

A soft search isn't visible to lender so they're OK.

It's likely because of already being £3k in debt due to the overdraft for such a long period of time.

Regarding their address - are they on the ER at their current residence?

Yes, he's on the ER at his current residence.
  • Dropping the O/D from £3k to £2k in a short period of time won't mean he will then qualify for a 0% CC.

Rebuilding the broken credit history will take months if not years

Wow! I'm learning a lot from this thread! I would have thought it would be easier to mend poor credit.

I helped him about a year ago do a credit report, one of the experian ones, his credit report did't say it was terrible but didn't say it was great either. Since then he's paid more debt off, and put himself in a better position. I guess this is part of the reason why I'm slightly surprised that he doesn't qualify/that his credit isn't in a better position. But, I obviously don't know enough and it would appear that him living IN his OD for so long is what's costing him the most.

This has been eye-opening, thanks for your honesty.

    Hi
I'd help them do a statement of affairs and pop this onto the debt free wannabe board. They'll be able to offer advice as to how best to cut down their outgoings and budget to clear the debt.
