We have a persistent bindweed problem in an area of our garden. Any tips for successfully getting rid of it?

I keep digging ut the plants with roots. They go deep so one can't get them all. Being persistent means that they eventually weaken and die.
I got rid of thistles this way and the Mare's Tail doesn't like it either. The mind of the bigot is like the pupil of the eye; the more light you pour upon it, the more it will contract.

I normally use weedkiller if its localized and other plants I dont want to die I use Roundup gel. I swear white vinegar is often a good weedkiller as well use that a fair bit now on other weeds on my driveway, works in less than 24 hours, haven't tried it on bindweed. You need to kill the plant any small roots will root.0 -
Grow it up something liker pea sticks and then paint with glyphosate.
It may not go in a season, but repeat until it does. Contrary to what that article says, I had bindweed in a couple of places when I took over this garden and now there's none.0 -
Don't dig it up (unless you don't want to use a weed killer). Digging and pulling breaks the roots and only propagates bind weed further. The same goes for ground elder.
Depending on its location, put an inch or two of weak glyphosate in a jam jar and stick the end of the bind weed in it. It will slowly take up the weed killer back to the roots.

Tried for years to pull it by hand to try and "weaken" it, but never went away. One season of using commercial weed killer and it's gone for good!
I always prefer organic gardening where possible... but in the end the frustration caused by the bindweed constantly regrowing was really putting a dampener on my pastime!0 -
I accidentally introduced bindweed when I moved a Pampas Grass. I would say it took me 3 seasons to kill it completely, using glyphosate, but it's gone now.0
