Tooth broken on cornflakes!!

I don't know if this is the right thread, but here goes!

Last week my boyfriend nicked some of my #brand of cereal#, when he was eating it something cracked him tooth & half fell out! We ignored it really & put it down to misfortune, he probably caught it on another tooth etc.

Today I am eating from the same packet and CRUNCH! I bite on something hard & a big chunk of my tooth falls out!

I have the tooth bit, but not whatever broke it.

I have rung CS and they say send the packet in, but what can I expect? Would they really admit there was something in there or that there was something wrong with the cereal? I have eaten #brand of cereal# for years & never had a problem.

My tooth is KILLING!

  • Send them a letter explaining what happened. They'll probably send you back some jiffy bags so they can test them.

i would pour the bag out onto a tray and have a good look at the contents for anything noticable.
remember once you send that away you have no proof fo anything

Would it have been a 'Special' cereal with a letter K in its branding? I ask because the same thing happened to me a few years ago. The batch of cereal seemed particularly hard and I broke a tooth but I just put it down to my teeth  as they have never been very strong. I wonder if something goes wrong in the processing now and again?

If it's cornflakes some of them can get overcooked and get a bit hard, so I think you've probably been unlucky rather than any contamination in the box. Also, I am NOT saying that there is anything wrong with your teeth, but I've lost bits of tooth before on only a few crisps, so I wonder if you might have had a weakness there you didn't know about?

I lost half a front "fang" a few years ago on a prawn cracker!! I have very weak teeth.

I think it may be hard to claim any dental costs against the manufacturer to be fair as it could just be down to the tooth itself and its difficult to prove its condition beforehand.

You may get a goodwill gesture though :)
  • Yes its Special K! It's not just my teeth, but my boyfriends also! Same packet! Just been telling my mum that i broke my teeth on my cereal & she said 'Special K' & I said yes, she's just spent £157 having hers fixed! Maybe I'm on a losing battle, but they should be more careful with their cooking times or put a warning on the box seeing as it's happening alot!

The only time I ever ate Special K I thought it was so hard I threw it out and made toast! Never again - and DEFF not now!! Hope you get your tooth fixed.

Maybe that's why you lose weight, unable to eat with broken teeth!!;)
