I have the first Tana Ramsey book
I find it to be really useful. The pizza danishes I've made several times. The spag bol is now our standard spag bol recipe (really tasty, and hidden veggies). Other recipes are good too. The only one that didn't turn out was the mango and chicken one - but then I tried it in the slo cooker, and I'm not a slo cooker fan anyway.
I've requested the second Tana for Christmas (even though she's a celeb wife and does annoy me somewhat. )"You can't get a cup of tea big enough or a book long enough to suit me." - C.S. Lewis0 -

I am thinking about buying some of these cookery books and was wondering if any OSers already have them and if they are worth buying please.
Many thanks!
Fifty Recipes To Stake Your Life On
by Charles Campion
Of the ones on your list this is the only one I have - to be honest nothing from it jumped out at me and I haven't made anything from it yet. It also has no pictures and I like pictures in my recipe books. :-)
I got it cheap from thebookpeople - 2 books that they have which I can highly recommend are Home Cook (£3) which is full of good, simple British home cooking and the wonderful Falling Cloudberries by Tessa Kiros (£4.99) - beautiful to look at and everything I have made from there so far has been fab - try Ludi's chicken and the greek lamb dish with potatoes. The other book I got from there which I use all the time is the Divertimenti Cookbook, a pleasant surprise as I took a chance on it without seeing it and it is now one of my favourite cookbooks - the bookpeople seem to be out of stock of it now though :-(

There are some bookpeople free delivery codes on the vouchers board I think?"The happiest of people don't necessarily have the

of everything that comes along their way."

I've got the Good Housekeeping one and personally found it quite disappointing. Uninspiring even for a very modest cook who just wanted to try a few new simple things.
Now what I would like is a book where you could tell it my children only eat X, Y and Z and my husband won't eat A, B and C - and can find a recipe which they might all eat. Currently I think I have just one dish which meets this test. (the husband is the real problem, but luckily works away in the week, and does the cooking at weekends).0 -

I haven't any of those but recently invested in this.
The Good Granny cookbook - Traditional Favourites for Modern Families by Jane Fearnley-Whittingstall (sister of River cottage guy).

Must say it has been fantastic - made Billabong Stew in slow cooker, fork biscuits that are fantastically easy, cinammon toast and loads of others.
Can't recommend it highly enough but watch the measurements. They have metric and imperial but they don't always add up. i.e in the fork biscuits the imperial measurement for something was 4 oz but that equated to 15g.
Got mine in Tesco for £12.49 but it is on Amazon for £9.99.

EDIT: Does that show my log in details please?
It does on my screen!
The river cottage family book (as mrsmetal mentioned) is also good, very detailed.
And no, it doesn't show your log in details

Clutterfree wrote: »Whereabouts in Morrisons would I find it please Horace? Thanks!
Thought I'd reply since Horace doesn't seem to be around - you'll find the BeRo books next to the flour.0 -
Thanks for all your replies.
In the end I went for the Good Housekeeping one and the Leith Baking Bible that Freya's mum recommended.
Still have the others on my "wish list" though - especially the Mrs Beeton set.
I was in the flour aisle in Morries last week and didn't see a Be Ro cook book but will check again next week.
Oo hope they arrive soon! :TAgeing is a privilege not everyone gets.
