cheapest options to italy?

Hi
We have some friends who live on the Adriatic coast about 15km from Rimini and 40 km from Ancona. I don't seem to be able to find any decent flight options for early September. We'll rent a car so it doesn't have to be Ancona (Ryanair) although I don't want to be driving for hours. Thanks in advance.

Have you looked at Ryanair to Forli? Ryanair call it 'Bologna' but it's probably slightly closer to Rimini. There are hire car offices at the airport, but it's also only 5 or 10 minutes by bus or taxi to the station.

The train from Forli to Rimini takes about 30 minutes and only costs about 8 Euros each way.

Try https://www.skyscanner.net - Forli is the closest, but Bologna also OK. Look a t BMI - I got the cheapest flights in August from them - £154 for two - return - Heathrow - Milan.
