Joint tenancy, one failed credit check renting

Hiya,
Could anyone advise me on please (I'm depending on this house move!!!)
My partner and I currently rent a small one bed flat through an agency and have just paid agent fees to do their credit checks to move to a slighter bigger 2 bed flat for work.
My credit check came back fine but his did not, they haven't said what the problem is as it doesn't show apparently. We was told to ring his work, work said it was all good their end, they sent it all off no problem and confirmed what he declared on the forms.
He has never had any debt or unpaid bills or whatever as he's always been 100% on top of it all.
I have good credit myself, i checked it not too long ago and it was in the 900's and we both can afford the new rent regardless of who's bank it comes out of.
I'm getting extremely worried that this may affect the move as I said I'm depending it on, I'm in a fantastic place in my career and we're moving because of this.
Sorry it' s so long winded but what's the likelihood that we will be allowed to rent? We have a garuntor anyway, and we make 3x the rent amount between us?? What is our next step please?
Lastly, I'm new to all this sorry! Thanks in advance

He either has a CCJ or some form of insolvency; or the agents are making it up. There is no such thing as an actual credit score ( your 900 means nothing) and agents see neither your regular debt, nor you late bills.0

Sounds to me that its a credit reference. Part of that will involve a credit check, part will involve contact employer. If they are speaking to his employer, its a payslip issue, not a credit issue. So...
Does your partner earn less than you?
Maybe his pay slip doesnt add up to his declared income
For example He got paid 15K and declared 15k, but actually he was paid 12k plus a 3K bonus?
Are there any expenses, deductions on the pay slip.0 -

Could he sign up to a credit check agency, either a free one such as Noddle or get a free trial at a paid one such as Equifax (if you do that through a cashback site too you can be paid for taking the trial). That way he can see if there's a problem on his file or if the agency are making it up. It's probably worth him just checking it anyway to make sure everything is in order. Silly things like whether he is on the electoral roll can affect his credit rating too. You can also pay for one off reports for a few quid which will give all the same information.MFW - OP 10% each year to clear mortgage in 10 years!

Hiya thanks for the reply, he doesn't have any ccjs or anything like that. The agents are saying it's the employers reference but employers are saying they ok'd it all. He meets the criteria but they still rejected him so now it's all fallen through for both of us.0

Has he checked his credit files to make sure there isn't anything on there he doesn't know about?0
