Unable To Get Corner Sofa In New Flat.

I moved at the weekend but my corner sofa won't go through the narrow passage to the living room. I've stored it in the garage.
I'm considering sourcing a furniture restorer etc who might be able to take apart the wooden frame and but it together again once indoors?
Thoughts please.

You might want to have it made to be in two halves, mightn't you, as you'll want to move out one day.
Funnily enough, I recently had to saw up an armchair in one of my rentals. It had been left by the previous owner in 2010, and I just could not get it out, even with doors taken off the hinges. I begin to think it went in through the windows when they were being replaced.0 -
Unfortunately it sounds like you need a new sofa!0

Had a similar problem years ago we cut the hessian bottom of sofa and found a few nuts that released the arms of the sofa which allowed it fit through the gap.0

We were given a 7ft sofa last week, got it into the hall but couldnt strip it down enough to get the extra few inches of wiggle room.
Best off looking at getting a sofa that splits into seperate segments for ease, especially if you are in a rental as it will be a PITA trying to get your current one back out.Mortgage started 2020, aiming to clear 31/12/2029.0 -
My recent movers told a story of sawing a £3k sofa in half and rejoining it. Not sure I'd go to all that trouble unless it was a very expensive or valued item.(Nearly) dunroving0

My sibling had a big sofa - all OK to get it into the house - and on moving day one of the removals men simply turned it over and undid a big bolt and it split into half. His companion remover said "didn't know you could do that" - and he said "you can on a lot" - so it's worth turning it over and having a look for yourself.
IMHO .... large sofas are the devil. Unless you've got a large house, or patio doors from the garden directly into the lounge, they'll always be troublesome.0 -
If you post up the make / model / photo of the sofa somebody might be along with some advice.0

Corner sofas often have bolts underneath to split it into two parts.
Alternatively, it it is only just a little too high to go through the doorway sideways then have a look at whether any legs/feet unscrew to make it narrower. (The 'height' of the sofa in normal use would be the shortest dimension)"In the future, everyone will be rich for 15 minutes"0 -
My SIL had a big new sofa delivered, and the delivery guys couldn't get it in. She had it left in the garage and arranged for movers and a carpenter to come to, planning for the windows to be taken out.
The proper removal guys looked at it carefully, carried it into the house in one orientation, then carefully turned it to a different angle and got it into the sitting room.
Is it at all possible that experienced people could do what you think is impossible?0 -
We removed the legs and the panel under a part of it. The remover guy seemed to know what he was doing but despite scratching the walls etc it couldn't get in.
I'll need to get a carpenter or so to have a look but no idea where to find those.0
