How do I find out who supplies my energy?

We complete on our new property next week, but I have no idea who supplies the gas and elec. How can I find out? We don't have any info from the vendors as they were renting it out before.
Hope someone can help.

    Contact the Meter Number Helpline on 0870 608 1524 and they will tell you who your current gas supplier is. Not very MSE so here is a geographical number 0191 2163000.

    Forgot to mention I have just moved into a new house and I am in the same boat, also I am unsure of my usage as I work offshore for long periods so the house will be empty, is there anywhere I can find out the cheapest supplier without getting quotes off them all individualy or is the only way to do it by ringing round?
