Home insurance that covers gas leaks

Hi,
After shelling out for John Lewis top of the range Home insurance with Home emergency cover I now find that they do not cover for gas leaks. I have a gas leak probably under a concrete floor and so the gas registered plumber capped off the supply. I now have no hot water central heating 2 fires and a hob out of action. JL (Royal Sun Alliance) say they will not cover this as a home emergency OR under building insurance as they exclude gas leaks!
Now all the gas supplies to each device have to be re-installed or most of the ground floor of the house will have to be dug up.....
How do I find an honest blue chip insurer that will cover this and all risks without things being hidden in small print?
So JL if my house blew up you wouldn't cover it.....????
Anyone think this is worth raising with the Ombudsman?
TIA

An explosion as a result of a gas leak would be covered under the explosion section of the policy.0

The thing is if I had a water leak and had to call someone out to find it and dig into the floor to rectify it or re-route if cheaper they would I hope pay minus the excess.... but not for gas it seems, even though I have Home Emergency cover which I have used successfully when the boiler broke.
Just hoping an Expert out there would know which companies covered gas leaks.
Seems a sneaky gotcha and makes me suspicious about what other exclusions are in there. Yes - I have read and searched the policy wording.0 -
I believe Hiscox cover this after checking the policy wording

They are not cheap but are considered superior.
As with any insurer, they will not cover your existing known issue.0 -
Are you intending to buy this insurance and then claim for the leak? If so, it's a pre-existing fault and will not be covered. If you claim it is subsequent, then your claim will be fraudulent. No free lunch, and no free laptop0

Hiscox not in Northern Ireland I asked them
No I am not making a fraudulent claim I want to buy home insurance that covers repairs required for a gas leak0 -

No insurer will cover it now as it’s pre existingFirst Date 08/11/2008, Moved In Together 01/06/2009, Engaged 01/01/10, Wedding Day 27/04/2013, Baby Moshie due 29/06/2019 :T0 -
As stated above I don't want cover for an existing issue. I want some house insurance that covers any work required in case of a gas leak. Just like a water leak.... But it's another kind of fluid. If you get a gas leak the supply is capped and you can't use any appliances heating hot water tumble drier etc until it's repaired or in my case the pipe was re routed at great expense. There were also huge electricity bills.0

maybe find an insurance broker who can find cover for any future problems. but bare in mind they will not cover pre exisiting problems or fixes."It is prudent when shopping for something important, not to limit yourself to Pound land/Estate Agents"
