PPI Payout Scam?

I have been contacted by a Nick Williams from Money Savings Expert to say that he has a PPI claim check for £4681 as long as I get £150 Amazon Gift Vouchers to pay their expenses. I doubt MSE is getting involved in this so I suppose its a scam? The number they gave me was 02081445139. Has anyone else come across this?

Thanks.

    Definitely applicable in this case.

Classic advance fee fraud. Play to your greed by making up some big figure as a payoff but then tell you that you need to pay a smaller amount to get it.

An obvious scam. Especially when you consider that isnt how PPI complaints work. MSE is also not a claims company and not authorised to engage in claims management. You havent signed a contract. Plus, the biggest of all, MSE would not take Amazon vouchers for payment.

Frankly I am surprised you have to ask (assuming this is a genuine post of course)

Just use a bit of common sense for a minute, or if not, use google - this is such an obvious scam targeting vulnerable people who may not perhaps be quite as savvy as they should be. basically though any time a complete stranger says that you have to pay to receive something to which you are due, it is going to be a scam.

The only reputable* company on earth who accept Amazon vouchers as payment is... Amazon.

    * reputable in the sense of "not a scam" not in the sense of "pays all their taxes"

So what taxes do you think that Amazon are legally required to pay but aren't paying?

If your referring to taxes they aren't legally required to pay then how much tax do you pay extra on top of what your legally required to?
