Aqua card stress!

Hi, I'm wondering if anybody can help me.
I recently applied for an aqua card (22/10/07) the credit check was done straight away, then two days later I received a letter asking for two forms of identification.
I sent them off, anyway i was just wondering is this usual for a cc company to do nowadays? has anybody else had to do this ?
