This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning

Morning everyone
The forecast for today isn’t very good, so no trips to the coast today. I will have to stay at home and get on with some jobs around the house instead.
I plan to sort through my wardrobe again. I keep going through it and clearing out things that I don’t wear anymore but it always seems to be full of things that never get worn. I’m setting myself a challenge not to buy anything else until at least next spring. I certainly have sufficient winter clothes.
The other plan for the day is to empty out the two large walk in cupboard in the living room and see if there is anything in there I haven’t used for a long while that can go.
Not sure what to have for dinner yet. I will have a rummage in the freezer later. I don’t want anything that will take too much effort, but fancy something different for a change.
Thinking of all of you who are having a difficult time right now.
I hope that you all have a decent day.0 -
Morning! Thank you for starting us off Hollyharvey.
Our local weather forecast is a bit dismal, like Holly's so I won't be going far, not unless the weatherman is wrong.
I am sad to see Judi has left, if she is reading along, I know I'm not the only one missing her posts.
Thinking of those who are struggling with things and hoping that everyone has as good a day as possible.I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back0 -
Morning all
Thanks for the thread Holly and hugs to all those in need.
We are moored near Tesco in Hungerford but will be moving on later today I expect.
Have a good day everyone.

Good morning everyone :hello:
No rain here but nice and cool. I had a dreadful night's sleep and was very thankful to finally wake up this morning. I have nothing planned for today apart from finishing off the washing and drying.
Steve has left for work and wants me to make a dentist appointment for him and the kids. Phoebe will have to pay for her treatment now she is 18 so I don't know if she wants to go.
I managed to get to my friend's wedding on Saturday as I was her witness. I have seen the photos though and I could cry. She looked so beautiful and I....did not. I am using them to keep going with my weight loss though as I would like there to be a difference on her first anniversary. I have been piddling around with it for a couple of weeks and have stayed the same so I will crack on with it this week and do it properly.
I am making dirty rice for dinner tonight and then tomorrow I am teaching Lee to make pasties. I will have some mackerel, new potatoes and corn on the cob instead. Lee made some 'twinks' hobnobs and custard cookies yesterday and they are nearly all gone already. I only had one to taste, I think Lilly has been secretly scoffing them all. I am finding it hard to keep up with their appetites, I have bought wholemeal flour to make cheese scones and a cake but they are hungry all the time. It is costing me a fortune.
Hope you all have a great day whatever you are up to, take care xx0 -
Morning everyone
hollyharvey - thanks for starting us off x
Hugs to those that want/need one x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
Dark, overcast and gloomy here this morning, it's damp/wet underfoot and a bit of laying water, although it's not raining now, it's forecast on and off all day.
DH up and gone to work stupid early, DS1 now getting ready for work and DS2 still in his pit, I will wake him shortly as I'm giving him a lift to my parents who are going away today - taking him to help dad get the awning put up then I'm going over tonight to pick him up as he has to be back here for tomorrow for an appointment.
Dinner tonight will be a quick egg and bacon sandwich at whatever time we get back.
Lunch yesterday was roast pork, roasties, mash, cauli/broc cheese, carrots, green beans, peas, yorkshires and gravy.
DH and the boys did a few jobs at home yesterday morning whilst I was prepping and cooking the lunch, so that's more jobs ticked off the "to do" list. They were able to utilise other bits we already had so no need to buy anything new.
Back to work today for me, hopefully be a busy day, so it passes quickly.
Keep safe and well x

Morning all
We had rain for most of yesterday and it looks the same for today as well, the rest of the week is supposed to get back to hot :j I hope it improves again as after this week I have two weeks off.
I don't think I went out of the house at all yesterday I spend some time cleaning cupboards and drawers out on the kitchen and then sat and watched a film in the afternoon, it was a nice restful day.
Back to work today and it wont be busy because of the weather so I might be able to get some admin bits done.
Not sure about dinner tonight I will go and look in the freezer after this.
Have good days all xx
Hugs to all in need xx0 -
Morning everyone.
Rainy in Glasgow today, last night the heating clicked on for a while.
I had a lovely time at my own home, my bed was so welcoming! Perhaps I'll get back there later today or tomorrow.
Speky - have a great time in Gibraltar, hope you get some time to sight see.
AOD - how's that pesky tooth?
Dumpling - keep going forwards towards your goals!
TA- thinking about you and MrTA.
Happy Monday to all.0 -
Morning Everyone,
I blame the dismal weather on a few shops that have started stocking there Christmas items - I would like to enjoy Summer first.
Today I am not going anywhere, I shall be doing DM paperwork and arranging for things to do with her house.
SC meal tonight. Will also load WM and get a load done for tomorrow as weather is dismal looking today.

Morning

Seems really quiet on here atm hope everyones OK.
Forecast grey again in fact the exact words were showers sunny intervals and mostly cloudy.....chuck in some snow and that about covers all options
Looking into joining a new gym that has just opened down the road. Sounds lovely but my history with gyms is mixed I either go too much for my health or I end up giving them lots of money and never going. I think I need to keep thinking about this one. I do want to do something now I have my amazing new hip to get some fitness back. Couch time has become too normal and random walking just never motivates me unless there is a nice pub lunch at the other end which defeats the object really
Food wise I need to use the cooked chicken I got out yesterday and never ended up eating. I did finish the hoi sin pancakes that I stuffed with cucumber and spring onion and had a caesar salad with it all....think I made my 5 a day for sure good job I wasnt out that hoi sin had loads of garlic in it:o So not sure what Ill have with the chicken might just go with some new pots and some veg.
Have a good Monday all
TA hope all is well0 -
It's a horrible grey day in Edinburgh again. It lashed down yesterday but we didn't go into the city until late afternoon when it was drying up. We saw a couple of things and had a lovely Indian meal before cming back here to find the heating on. It seems wrong to have the heating on in August.
We have a thing to see this morning and then we are meeting friends at Waverley station (btw that is the most confusing station I've ever been at) and they will stay with us until Thursday.0
