I had a non-fault incident in 2015 which I left on the quotes when I checked prices with 3 and 10-years NCD.

At the time of the incident my premium didn't increase, but on subsequent renewals I think I was subject to a small increase.

Chances are the premium would have increased anyways, as inflation and other factors come into play eg insurance tax.

I'm with Directline - renewed last month - my policy and my wife's.

Their renewal price was the cheapest by far when I did comparison quotes. The other prices were higher than I had paid the previous year.

There's was lower by about £50.

Was very pleased - it's nice when your current insurer actually tries to compete for your custom rather than punish you with an overinflated price.

I received my renewal and rang Direct Line to haggle on the price; I did the same last year and it paid off. This year they dropped the price by about £30, which made their renewal cheaper than LV's price even after cashback. This will be the third year I've been with Direct Line as they've been very competitive on price each time. They were brilliant a few years ago when I was involved in a non-fault incident - they handled everything brilliantly and the legal cover was magic.

Curious to know if you opted for protected NCD and legal cover with Direct Line?

Are you sure the LV quote doesn't include a hire car? With ours a hire car is included but we pay extra for one of a similar size to our own car.

Positive. Guaranteed hire car cover is extra. I'd have a courtesy car as standard for repairs, but I'd need to select the extra cover to have a courtesy car if mine is a write-off. Direct Line includes this cover as standard but with LV it's an optional extra.

Edit: I ran another comparison without my non-fault incident and it made no difference Hastings nor LV.

    No, not on either policy.

    Price includes multi car discount.

Was impressed that I didn't even have to haggle this year. They just offered the lowest price to start with.
    Mortgage remaining: £42,260 of £77,000 (2.59% til 03/18 - 2.09% til 03/23)
