we do not know how any other descaling solution may affect your machine

I have the same issue with my Nesspresso machine.

owned 1 year now light red/yellow won't go after 2 descaling cycles now.. !

    what was the solution ?

there is zero usefiul information online about this colour code. and it is definitely Red/Yellow because after power cycling it flashes green then jumps to Red (left) Yellow Right.

Nespresso repaired the machine and returned it. I understand the water heating element was clogged and had to be replaced.

I believe one needs to descale before the element gets completely blocked, after it is blocked descaling fluid cannot do it's job.

    Good luck

  • i found the result on another forum link

the descaling process was flushing through fine so over clogging wasn't the issue, and the rinse mode was also working fine..

the rep told the guy in the link i found to do another descale with just water 0.3L until it runs out then once the orange light flashes at the end of the descale cycle simply hold down the button & the control bar together for MORE than 8 seconds - the green light will flash up then then go solid. when solid let go . FIXED .. back to normal again. :-)
conclusion, keep on top of your rinse & descaling ..

But then the OP wouldn't have had a notification of an update to his thread and been able to reply with the answer the new poster was seeking.
