CAR TAX DISCOUNT !! (cashback)

With the changes in law concerning credit card charges being scrapped. It is now possible to get cashback on your car tax! I get 1.5% cashback on my £360 car tax. This means I get £5.40 back off my car tax.

The Gov site still says it will charge you to use a credit card, but it doesn't add anything to the final amount when you go through checkout.

A penny saved is a penny earned. As my dad used to say. :beer:

According to my car tax frenewal form, they will only charge you the £2.50 card fee if you use a business credit card, all other cards are frre to use for your car tax.

I cannot believe the government will allow you to pay through a cashback intermediary, to which they will have to pay commission - the government are so desparate for money they are unlikely to run such a scheme.

Perhaps it's the CC issuer providing the cashback?

Nationwide Select CCs give 0.25% cashback, which would be 90p.

100% they do allow it - taxed several vehicles. :beer:

The OP at no point mentions a cashback intermediary, and I would be amazed if it's not referring to cashback paid by the card issuer (although it would be interesting to see an answer to scounger's question as to which card pays 1.5% cashback).
