Better Service from 3rd Party Insurance

Was involved in two no-fault claims in the last 3 years (Nov 2015 and Mar 2018), one of which I went my own insurer and the other via the 3rd party's company. Without mentioning the two companies involved, the service from the 3rd party insurance in terms of car hire, repair turnaround and communication was much better.
My own insurance (or rather the Claims Management crew they appointed) dragged a minor bumper repair out for 10 days, set me up with some fuel guzzling monstrosity which I took back the same day (I thought it actually had a leak the diesel was going down so fast), and then ended up in a b****y Corsa for the rest of the time (I'm 6'2"). I also had to chase their selected repair crew up after a week to find that nothing had yet been done.
The 3rd party insurer got my hire car a dropped off & collected from the repair centre, who did a great job replacing the whole front bumper and wraparound panel after I was hit head on by their driver (low speed - top tip is do not try to recover items that have fallen off the back seat while exiting a mini-roundabout). They also kept me informed of progress and the hire car was similar in size to mine.
Just waiting to see if my insurance company try to put up the premium in December despite the fact the later bump has not cost them a brass farthing and me informing them for "info only".

Of course they did. It was in their best financial interests to get it sorted as quickly as possible whereas when you claimed on yours it was in their best financial interests to drag it out as long as possible.
