Problem with RAC Approved Garage
We recently had a need to get the RAC to come out to us (we are members). They managed a temporary fix and recommended a local garage that was RAC approved.
Based on this recommendation we booked the car in a week later.
The problem wasn't fixed at this garage and I don't think was even properly considered. I explainde when I dropped the car off what the problem was and what I thought the part was that was causing the problem.
I also asked if they could also take a look at the air con if time allowed.
Seven hours later I get a call telling me my car is ready for collection and everything seems to be working. I was told a diagnostic test had been done which was chargeable but that some codes had been thrown up which the mechanic was unfamiliar with so he would need to ring Germany for more information (I know, I know).
I drove it home and immediately noticed when I parked up that the problem had not been fixed (though the air con had been fixed).
We've since purchased the part and found an online mechanic who has successfully repaired the vehicle yet four weeks on the RAC approved garage have failed to give me any further information on the diagnostics.
My question is this.Am I being unreasonable in expecting some type of report if a diagnostics test has been carried out and is it also unreasonable to expect the garage to have contacted me within 4 weeks to advise me of what Germany have told them ?
I strongly suspect they haven't phoned anyone and also am starting to think a diagnostics test was never carried out.
