Servicing Stop - Terrible Service

Customer service so terrible it’s hard not to think it’s being done intentionally. Please avoid this company at all cost, they will overcharge you, ignore you and lie to you.

A fault developed with my car whilst being worked on by Servicing Stop, 5 days dealing with different people and still no noticeable progress. Servicing Stop unable to answer any questions but won’t let me speak directly with the garage. Promises to call back don’t happen, no direct phone number and 20 minutes for calls to be answered on main line, emails go unanswered.

Servicing Stop still have my car now, 5 days after it was returned to them, nothing has been done to the car and I can’t speak to anyone with the ability to do anything about it.

Day 1
  • Car booked in for service and MOT. Advised alternator belt change, charged £150 by Servicing Stop, Main Ford dealer quote £85.
  • Car broke down whilst being returned to me. They ‘fixed’ it at the road side and I got the car back.
  • Tried to use the car that evening and it wouldn’t start so the garage agreed to collect the car the next available day.

Day 2
  • The garage collected the car but refused to speak directly with us about the issue due to going against contract with Servicing Stop. Called Servicing Stop, after 15 minutes on hold I was told they couldn’t deal with the issue and I needed to email customer services.
  • Finally got a call back in the afternoon and spoke to someone with no knowledge of what was happening with the car or what happened the previous day.
  • Got another call at the end of the day saying the garage was waiting for a part and the car would be returned the following morning, but no explanation on what the part was or what work was being done.

Day 3
  • Car not received by midday. No call from Servicing Stop. Called Servicing Stop, 20 minutes on hold until the call was answered. Was told the person dealing with my case was going to call the garage for an update and call me back.
  • Still no call back from Servicing Stop by the end of the day, so I called them, 40 minutes on the phone (35 minutes being on hold) going through various people before finally being told the person dealing with my case was off sick that day. So another person called the garage and confirmed they were not able to diagnose the issue and the car would have to be sent to a main dealer.
  • I requested the manager call me the next morning to resolve.

Day 4
  • No call from the manager. The person responsible for my case called to say there was no progress but they would call back later in the day. No call received and I had no time to sit on hold for 20 minutes to call them.

Day 5
  • Call received from Servicing Stop saying the issue was not caused by the work carried out on day 1, despite it being linked to the alternator. I was happy to accept this but asked for the information proving that diagnosis since they previously said it would have to go to a main dealer to diagnose. I was promised a call back before the end of the day.
  • No call received. Only an email confirming the same things as day 3 that the car would have to go to a main dealer to diagnose the issue.
  • I did get a refund to bring the cost of the alternator belt change to the main dealer price, but this is hardly
  • I called Servicing Stop, on hold for 15 minutes until call was answered. I requested to speak to the Manager, was told she would call me first thing in the morning.

Day 6 (today)
  • No call received. I called Servicing Stop, on hold for 10 minutes. The Manager was off sick, so I requested someone else senior to speak to. I received a voicemail 30 minutes later saying I would have to deal with the same person I had been dealing with and they would call me shortly.
  • No call back an hour later so I called again, on hold for 25 minutes before getting through to a different department. They told me they would go and see the customer car department and get them to call me immediately. 30 minutes later and I’m still waiting…..

I remain mystified why someone would let their car go to an unknown garage to have goodness-knows what level of service on it. Just to save a few £££s.

It's amazing, isn't it? Even a cursory google search is enough to ring alarm bells.

OP, how much did you actually "save" by using them rather than just going to a recommended garage?
