Capital One - Online Banking / Charge Problems - Please read, your feedback is needed

in Credit cards
My partner has a Capital One card and has recently been charged for going over his limit. I will go into more detail in another post.
Basically he has been charged for going over by £2 (which they allowed), as his online banking reported the incorrect available balance.
Has anyone else had this problem?
Your feedback is appriciated!
Thanks.

The Cap One on line account balance does not show any transactions 'in the pipeline'. Therefore the "available balance" will not reflect these. This is the normal situation in my experience .Ethical moneysaver0

Hey realaledrinker
Thanks for getting back to me.
I agree with what you are saying about the "pipeline", but the available balance should be up to date in real time. This happens with many online banking / credit card accounts, but Capital One do not seem to be able to do this. They have even said on the phone that it takes up to 4 days to reflect the correct balance. This is clearly against the FSA guidelines.
For example, A&L "pipeline" transactions take approximately two days to update, however the available balance is always updated within the hour. I believe it to be the same for my credit cards. (I am testing this at the moment). The period of time that this card is used is between say a couple of days. Surely this should be update within the time frame from the last transaction and not well over two days later, would you agree?0
