Canadian share certificates

Hi all,
I have some Canadian share certificates that I’d like to sell but I cannot find out how.
I cannot find a UK broker that accepts Canadian paper share certificates and I’ve contacted several Canadian firms but they won’t deal with me as I’m not a Canadian resident.

Any ideas/advice?

Thanks

Wildo

Hargreaves Lansdown's overseas share-trading page says they include Toronto: https://www.hl.co.uk/shares/share-dealing/overseas-share-dealing-service

I hope that means you can mail them the certificates once you've opened an account there.

    Hi all,

    Thanks for the responses.

    Had this back from HL:

I am afraid that we would be unable to dispose of your Canadian share certificate. Although we offer overseas share dealing, this only extends crest depository interest (shares that can be traded electronically) that can settle through CREST, which is the UK settlement system for oversees share holdings. I am afraid if you hold share certificates then you hold the shares directly with the registrar for that company, and as such, these shares are not creatable.
While we would be unable to assist you on this occasion, you may be able to dispose of your shares certificates through a major bank or a stockbroker that has operation in both the UK and overseas.

Ive checked with computashare (registra) in Canada and the UK and they can’t help. Just say need a broker or major bank (which I cannot find).

    Any other ideas?
