Are there any genuine window/door improvement schemes post Green Deal?

I've seen a lot of adverts for companies claiming to have grants available or help to buy schemes for replacing double glazed windows/doors over 5/10 years old. I know the government funded Green Deal has stopped, so are there any genuine schemes to help with the cost of replacement windows/doors actually available? I just think everything is a scam or marketing ploy these days :eek:

5/10 year old windows should not need replacing. Definitely a scam.

I contacted one of these companies more out of interest and so see who they use after I saw an advert on facebook.

They basically seemed to act as a umbrella for companies for marketing. They are also very insistent.

I had someone come around and survey. They quoted me nearly 8k for just windows (i expected to pay about 9 for everything i was due to have done inc doors, building work etc)

They then got that down on the day using the "funding" to £6700. Deal had to be done there and then. They don't do building work or much else other than normal doors.

When they call me to chase they managed to get it down again to about £5800 or something similar.

The windows were basic styles - minimal openings. The company I had round were Safeglaze. However the man who visited said he was from SafeStyle and then claimed a slip of the tongue. As I had specifically stated I would not want anyone visiting if they were SafeStyle UK he didn't do himself any favours.

I would go with Marketing Ploy rather than scam
