Advice for paying for hotel booking

I need some advice.

I want to book a hotel for January 2018, and I have two options:

1. Book now pay in sterling
or

2. Book now, pay later but pay in Euros at the hotel, securing the price at today's rate.

Not sure quite what to do considering the pound is pretty pathetic against the euro at the moment....thoughts?

I am in two minds whether to book a hotel

£ has been pathetic against !!!8364; for some time! Every time I went abroad the exchange rate was getting worse.

    There are two options:

    1. Pay now and not worry about finding the extra when you check in.

    2. Save the extra and pay when you check in.

Sadly no one has a crystal ball else we would all be minted :D

How does that work? You will pay less Euros to the hotel on the day if the pound weakens against the Euro before you go?

You do not mention the booking site but are you sure the Pay Now option is in GBP£ and not given as an approximate GBP£ value with the actual Pay Now charge still being made in the local currency?

When I have made a booking.com reservation and they say "pay at the hotel" the rate quoted has merely today's exchange conversion, and I've paid the equivalent in Euros; but at the rate then prevailing when I arrive...

So why pay today what you can put off til tomorrow? I can't see the rate worsening! (but then I'm a Euro-half-full guy) . The minor fluctuations will probably be less important than your choice of credit or debit card as that can make a £20 difference on the trade-rate for a 400 Euro bill

So why are you asking the question - you seem to have convinced yourself that choice 2 is the better option.
