Feeling Robed Ripped of by Haven Holidays

Good day all .
As the title I booked a holiday direct through there website and paid in full only to find the a couple of days later the price had dropped by £60. Now I understand I booked it at that price but now feel let down and ripped off. Now just to make others aware they advertise a price promise this only applies if you book almost a year in advance. So no use to most bookers also they only offer a 24hr cooling off period. Also asked how the prices change I can only assume its supply and demand (greed) its not like they pay the cleaners ,chefs, reception ,maintance staff any extra in the summer or subject to airport surcharges etc.
Thanks

Presumably you were happy with the price you paid.
If the price had gone up by £60 since you booked would you offer Haven the £60 ?Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill0 -
If they put their price up would you be willing to pay the extra?
Its more than likely supply and demand. Its better to sell a room for £60 cheaper than not sell it at all, when youre already committed to paying the wages you mentioned.
Lets look at the alternative for Haven should we?
They have 10 palces to stay in. Each week they sell 9 of hte places for £100 they are unable to sell the other place. So make £900 per week. So thats 90% occupancy or they sell 9 of the places at £100 and sell the last place at £50 because someone was willing to spend £50 and not the £100. That means they make £950 or 95% return on occupancy rates.
Now which would you pick to have? 90% or 95%
If they dont sell that one room and still wish to make £950 they would then have to sell the 9 rooms that do sell at £105.56 therefore by seeling the unoccupied room at a lower rate and thus ensuring full occupancy they can maintain lower prices for the orginal bookings.
Theres no robbing going on, its simply a case of being ignorant of business practices.0 -
I hate it when you agree to buy something from a company for a certain price and they sell it to you at exactly that price.

"its not like they pay the cleaners ,chefs, reception ,maintance staff any extra in the summer"
Nope, staff would get the same wage but there would be more staff on the rota if you were going during the school holiday/bank holiday periods.Mortgage started 2020, aiming to clear it in 2026.0 -
Come on folks, this is a money saving site after all , give the OP a break
Have you actually tried ringing them and see if they will reduce the price or maybe give you some vouchers or something ??0 -

I think its the fact the OP put " robed and ripped off" in the title
they werent either ( or robbed)
but it cant hurt to call them, of course they may also say, if the price had gone up etc0 -

I wasn't sure whether they'd been robbed or had their robes ripped off.“What means that trump?” Timon of Athens by William Shakespeare0 -
I love how the OP thinks it's greedy for Haven to reduce the price.
They need to be profitable to keep all those cleaners and entertainment staff employed. So when people are prepared to pay more they'll up the price. When they have spaces unsold they'll reduce the price to entice buyers. Sometimes they will make a loss but hope the holidaymakers spend lots on site to make up for it, but there's no guarantee.
It's annoying to miss out on a price reduction but screaming that you've been ripped off is ridiculous. You paid the price advertised and there was no deception. I doubt they promised not to reduce the price, so they haven't done anything wrong.Don't listen to me, I'm no expert!0
