Fraud help - Ratesetter

in Loans
Hi all
I've been having continuing trouble with Ratesetter - in 2016 my (now ex) partner took out a loan in my name using my bank details and my address.
I only found out when they sent out default letters to my home address 3 months after the account was opened. When I first contacted Ratesetter to report this they asked for my correct contact details after I advised them that both my email and my phone number held on the account was incorrect.
However now they've sold the loan onto a debt recovery specialist they're suggesting that these contact details were used to open the account - therefore I'd have known about the account immediately - which simply isn't true - the first email correspondence I received from them was 1 month after I reported the fraud to them.
At the time I also reported the fraud to the police who came out to me, raised a crime reference number and discussed. Since then the police and action fraud have both advised that they're waiting on Ratesetter to contact them, as they're the ones who have been defrauded. However Ratesetter refused on multiple occasions to contact the police, they say that the police should contact them. The debt collection company is now saying that due to the police not contacting them they're treating it as a civil matter until contacted by the police - even though during my first phone discussion with the debt collection company they admitted that the police don't make the first contact.
In my recent correspondence with the debt recovery specialist they told me that Ratesetter have said that they have no record of any complaint being raised by me - however I informed them I have email proof of ratesetters acknowledgement and now they've stopped mentioning that excuse - it feels like they're trying to lie their way into blaming me.
Does anyone have any advice regarding them saying that my contact details have been permanently on the account and that they refuse to contact the police with the reference numbers I've provided?
Thanks,

You need to provide them with the contact details of the officer dealing, not just tell them to call the police. Fraud is normally the preserve of the City of London police, are they dealing with it?
Write to Peter Behrens the COO of Ratesetter, and ask for it to be formally dealt with as a complaint.0 -
Thanks Sparkey - they have the full details of the office who was dealing. My local police force indeed referred me over to action fraud - both are saying they need to be contacted by Ratesetter.
I also raised it as a formal complaint - they responded reiterating that they wont contact the officer dealing or action fraud. Its this complaint that they originally told the debt recovery company didnt exist. It was a few days after they responded to this complaint that they sold the account.0 -
When did you raise the complaint with Ratesetter. You have six months from when they issue a final response letter to make a complaint to the FOS. Chase it through with the FOS.0
