Pending one of our experts responding.....
Can you post what has happened in the lead up to the message?
Best not to use the laptop in the meantime, best leave it in the state that it is at the moment!

I would be tempted to remove the hard drive and use malwarebytes on another machine, probably in a virtual machine mode, to test the laptop drive for malware and remove it.

A bit late possibly to ask but do you have a rescue disk, a copy of the installed operating system and your own installed programs plus your data files (or even the whole drive) i.e. proper backups and a recovery system? There are other things you could have done to protect your laptop and you may wish to address that later!

I have a virus checker on it called McAfee so I assume this is to check for viruses. Yes let me know what else I should have.

What version of Windows have you got? If 10 their a/v is sort of fine, but what you have is not a virus what browser were you using , and do you have adblockers etc on it?
As above run adwcleaner then malwarebytes free
