Non fault accident - replacement car hire
Has anyone got much knowledge of car insurance claims? So my car was hit last week in a car park and third party have admitted liability (they e also offered to repair my vehicle and give me a replacement car) My insurers have started sorted out repairs and said I get a replacement car free of charge. I!!!8217;ve now been called by a hire car company (who insurers said would call me) and they!!!8217;ve sent me loads of paperwork to sign up to a credit agreement although I!!!8217;ve been told all costs will be claimed from third party. But I have to agree to statements which I don!!!8217;t agree with before they!!!8217;ll arrange the car for me. They also said that I may need to go to court if the third party don!!!8217;t accept my costs.
When I reported the accident to They offered me two types of car a standard hatchback or a non-fault replacement car which would be a like for like vehicle. I!!!8217;ve got two young kids with rear facing car seats so thought a like for like car would be a more sensible option but now I!!!8217;m regretting it. My car isn!!!8217;t being collected For another week. Should I call insurers and say I want the standard car or even borrow a family car while mine is being repaired? It just doesn!!!8217;t sit well wit me that I!!!8217;m having to agree to a credit agreement when I!!!8217;m not at fault and could be liable for costs.

Why don!!!8217;t you let the third party insurer deal with the repair to your vehicle. They!!!8217;ll let you take it wherever you like. They will also give you a hire car which won!!!8217;t be on credit as they will be paying the car hire company directly.0

You are right to worry about credit hire cars, there are many threads on here where the insurer has decided not to pay the hire charges due to the costs and then the policyholder ends up with a large bill. They are usually arranged by an accident management company working on behalf of the insurer rather than the insurer, hence the reluctance to payout.
A lot of bodyshop repair workshops will offer a free hire car whilst your own is being fixed by them, only drawback is the company name is usually sign written all over as an advertisement.0 -
Ahh the joys of credit hire when the costs can be rejected if you have sufficient money to hire a replacement car.
I am pleased to see you have read the t&c's as many dont!
If liability has been admitted by the TP insurance company there is nothing stopping you from asking them to provide you with a hire car.Mortgage started 2020, aiming to clear it in 2026.0 -
Another unregulated insurance scam where cowboys have found a way to scam the innocent party."A nation's greatness is measured by how it treats its weakest members." ~ Mahatma Gandhi
