Careco

Anyone had any dealings with Careco. (Disability products)
I bought a wheelchair for my father on 18th July
We took him out in it for the first time on Saturday
It doesn’t go in a straight line and is very unstable. He would easily fall out of it
They only offer a 14 days return period
Is there a way to get a refund ?
Thanks for reading
Michelle

Within the first 6 months it's for the retailer to prove that the issue is not caused by a manufacturing defect, if they can't they need to refund repair or replace (it's up to them which).

You may also be able to reject the goods within the first 30 days - how did you buy it? Was it online?
  • We went to the shop to buy it.

Is this wheelchair designed to be self propelled? If not, it is intended that someone else pushes it, and it
won't be stable if self propelled.
Most of the lightweight folding ones come into the latter category.
You are not entitled to a statutory refund unless the item is actually faulty. Only what the store's own returns policy offers. Theirs appears quite clear: no refund if the item is used (not merely unpacked), and an £80 fee if they have to repackage it.
So it seems you would need to show that it's faulty.
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)

Within the first 30days (starting the day after you take ownership) you have a 'short term right to reject'. If the product doesn't confirm to the CRA you can reject it without being obliged to allow a repair or replacement.

The onus would be on you to prove there is an inherent fault.

A quick search shows the company to be reputable and approachable.
Why not speak to them .
  • Thanks for the replies. What is CRA (thread 5)
It only cost £99.99. My father is never keen on spending money !!
It just doesn’t do the job. I;m frightened if my mum took him out in it she wouldnt be able to keep it level or upright

Hardly seems fair to start a thread naming a company when it's you that are at fault

    What is CRA

Consumer Rights Act 2015 ... the legislation that replaced the Sale of Goods Act 1979.

We don't yet know where the fault lies. I can't see any problem in naming a company, it's factually correct that they are the sellers of the product.
  • I have no idea why you think we are at fault. I was just looking for some help
Thanks to all the positive posts
