Sounds wrong to me. Services are done on milage or interval, whichever comes first. I assume your light have come on because of the distancec travelled. Sounds really bad for the car if they only want to do on time. Still maybe there were better plans you did not sign up for.

It's 11 months old and not due a service until October?

Take it back to Seat and get them to service it.
