TV Aspect ratio keeps changing itself!

Evening,
An odd one. My, 10yr old, Philips TV needs to be set in a Widescreen ratio for the Sky box etc to be correctly sized. For some reason it has started automatically resetting itself to “Super Zoom” every time the tv is turned off (off or on standby).
The original remote is bust so I am using my Sky remote, but it works effectively. I can change the ratio back each time, but it doesn’t “stick” if the tv is turned off!!
I’ve tried resetting to factory settings, I think, and it doesn’t seem to change anything.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
Steve

There's probably a battery or capacitor on the circuit board that should help to remember your settings. If this has gone bad the settings don't get stored.0

Your telly is old.
Make do with the workaround you describe or buy a new TV.0 -
On some TVs you may need to "Save" the zoom through the onscreen menu otherwise it will revert to the last saved zoom setting.0

Is the resolution set to Auto?0

check your auto settings on the sky box as well. HD channels, for example with old film/programs with show it in 4:3, if on auto, it will try converting to wide screen
my money is on the auto settings on either your TV, Sky box or both0 -
##Hi may also be worth turning the HDMI control on the Sky box to off, it can send signals to the tv to make it switch incorrectly.Evening,

Could it be the film ? some films change aspect ratio part way through due to human error in editing process0
