. I find that I sit on a night in front of the tv, having stopped smoking I then have a couple of glasses of wine, one bad habit to another!
Well done on the smoking frontand I can certainly identify with the pattern of replacing one bad habit with another lol
I'm nursing a broken arm at the moment, which has curtailed all spending activity at least:). I had pulled-up at a friend's house and just about to unfasten my seat belt when I saw a vehicle approaching me at quite a speed. There wasn't enough time to jump out of the car and I was hit ''head on'' - I didn't think I would survive. Fortunately I did, but the car was a complete write off. As luck would have it, an off duty policeman was following the driver of said car and so witnessed the whole episode - am really thankful for that. The driver of the other car didn't have a scratch on him!1 -
Such bad luck! I guess the driver who hit you was charged with dangerous driving? Sorry to hear your arm is broken, but it could have been so much worse. Wishing you a speedy recovery and hope the break mends well

:eek::eek: That's awful Mr APJI, I suppose the way to look at it is that it could have been a lot worse.
I hope your recover well.
A friend of mine gave up smoking, very determined she was. However, she liked Cointreau and she'd find herself pouring just a little bit several times a day instead of a cigarette. By 5 pm she was very tiddly and she realised she was hiding the empty bottles from her husband and decided that smoking was the lesser of two evils.
She did subsequently give up two years ago without resorting to excessive Cointreau consumption !1 -

Have yet to hear what will happen. However, the driver was speeding and using a hand held mobile at the time .
Thanks for your good wishes1 -
However, the driver was speeding and using a hand held mobile)
Heavens above, that's shocking!!
A few years ago my grand-daughter (6) was in a car which was smashed to bits by an idiot who was well over the legal limit. My grand-daughter survived, but her little friend died and also the friend's mother who was driving. It was truly an awful time for all concerned.1 -

My sympathies and best wishes for a speedy recovery for your arm.
:mad:to the sort of idiot that thinks it's okay to drive whilst using a mobile phone:mad:
I can never believe the sort of irresponsibility that causes some drivers to think they can drive whilst either using a mobile or under the influence of drink (or drugs come to think of it). Hello.....a metal box on 4 wheels driven at speed needs careful control and not that sort of idiotic behaviour.1 -

That's so sad Mr C. It really makes my blood boil when innocent lives are lost because someone has acted so selfishly and without an ounce of consideration towards others.
AP, sending my best wishes and hoping your arm will heal well1 -
APJI, sorry to hear your news. Goodness me, I just hope that chap gets what he deserves! Apart from the policeman following the car, were there any other witnesses? Anyway, I wish you a speedy recovery
Mr C, what a terrible ordeal for your grand-daughter and so very sad for the family of the mother/child.
CRV, sounds like you're going to have a busy time over the xmas period with your work pattern + your son's visit. I'm with bugslet on the running though - rather him than me lol. We're off to the Netherlands this year and it will be the first time in all the years we've been married that we won't be playing ''host'' - hallelujah lol. One of our sons lives there with his wife and twin daughters (aged 3). It will be chaotic lol.
We went out for lunch today - really pleasant until a couple of guys became rather aggressive because of their differing views over Brexit! Crikey, who would have thought the decision to leave the EU would have stirred up such a hornets nest!1 -

Hi Mr APJI- you have my very best wishes for a speedy recovery, an awful experience, hope that it all works out with the hassle that goes along with a crash. It sometimes takes a life affirming event to make us appreciate what we have, or it was in my case.
Mr C- how awful for your grand daughter and even more so for the poor family involved. I'm sure that supporting her through that was very, very hard.
I'm with moniestooshort and BucksLady, it makes the blood boil! I'm going to do a personal "Dry December" again, not that I go mad on booze but because I want to be totally self controlled and breeze through any early morning spot checks!
MoL, have great fun in Holland with the family, Brexit has split lots of peoples views and I'm sure that friendships are being tested in some areas, within my own family there is a divergence of views, primarily along the lines of age! I differ from one of my sons but I'm glad that at least i) he has a view and ii) he's not afraid to both question and debate it.
What I always say to friends and family when we stray into politics/ brexit is that we can debate but will have to agree to disagree rather than fall out over something we personally have no control over.
My mother always used to tell us when we were younger- never talk about sex, religion or politics with people you don't really know well enough to agree to disagree with. Luckily this has served me well and now my sons.
Bugslet- the running thing is alien to me too, but I feel proud that he's looking after himself, a 5k park run each week with his work colleagues. They're planning a few half marathons in the New Year, and gym a few times per week. I just was into cricket and football!CRV1963- Light bulb moment Sept 15- Planning the great escape- aka retirement!1
