old style hoover?

Options
Probably like many others, I have laminate flooring all downstairs and have carpet upstairs. I mop the floors when ever i remember, but i remember by nan having a push hoover, not electrical, but it had rollers and it would sweep the carpet.

Does anyone know what i'm on about? do they still sell these?

A carpet sweeper? I got mine from my mother in law but it's ancient. I should add that I don't use it on my laminate. An ordinary brush does a better job.

    Hi redballoon,

They do still sell them...have a look in Argos. They have a selection of them but I'm not sure how effective they are on laminate flooring.

I use a Henry hoover on my laminate floors. I tend to use just the nozzle part to suck up crumbs, bits, hama beads and lego :D A damp cloth deals with other marks and spills.

The word is definitely "ewbank" I remember it well ... however, for our parquet flooring (remember that, or am I just old at 36!) .... we used a special polishing device which whirled and polished ... now can someone please remember the name of that!!?!

Another recomendation for carpet sweepers here. ;) Having grown up with a mother who used an old Eubank I thought they were old fashioned but as I find my Hoover heavy and want to save a bit of electricity, I bought a simple carpet sweeper from my local hardware store last week for £12 and it's fab. :j
We have solid wood floors and it works fine on them too. I'm only planning to use the Hoover for awkward corners and the stairs now. :D

It's a floor polisher... lots of different makes, but saves you getting down on your hands and knees! I have an old one of my mums (made by Hoover) for my quarry tiles, which I'm always lending to friends for parquet or polished tiles. It has different pads for scrubbing, applying polish and polishing off. The polish was Johnson's Traffic wax. You can still get them. My mum has a new (better) one, and I think they're fairly widely used commercially. Easy enough to find if you need one...
