Can anyone recommend a portable air con unit for a medium sized room.
I’m guessing that a budget of £500 to £750 should get something decent, reliable and energy efficient.
Thanks

Price has gone up £20 but it's currently out of stock. It will reduce the temperature of our lounge by 4 degrees C in 45 minutes.0 -

It is roughly 1KW when the compressor is running, so about 8p and hour I think.0

Would this one be suitable for your home? It's cheaper and not as noisy:

What is the actual floor space of the room in meters squared?
We found that we had to move from a 9000btu unit to a 12k one for our living room because it was just on the edge in terms of size, which added to a huge window at the back and large one at the front meant it got the sun pretty much all day so the 9k unit was struggling.
IIRC we paid about £350 for the 9k unit (and electrolux) from John Lewis a couple of years back, and about £230 for the 12k one from Screwfix (notably before the weather got hot) last year (it was cheaper than their 9k one at the time).
For £750 you may just about be able to get a split unit fitted, those will be far more efficient and quieter, also it would only need a pair of about 1" holes in the wall whilst a portable unit either needs about a 4" hole in the wall (a friend uses the old gas fire vent), or out a window which even with a cloth barrier means it's far less efficient (as you're letting a lot of warmth back in via the uninsulated cloth).0
