Free car park-The Range - Parking eye

Hi all i have looked up threads for The Range and PE but couldnt see any recent posts so please forgive me of this has been asked many times i just want to check the process is the same.
My partner recieved a letter from PE for spending 2hrs44mins in The Range in Watford.
It is free parking (according to there website),
but for 2 hours only which wasnt obvious i will need to check signage.
This was our first time shopping there and it is a large store so plenty to browse. It also has a small food outlet instore which we stopped at while our newborn was being fed.
I have lost the reciept but will show on my bank statements we shopped there twice in 1 week.
Is it worth going in store (around 20mins drive) and complaining to the manager and see if they will cancel it or start an appeal process with PE.
Any advise greatly appreciated and any templates with what can be said.
Thanks.

yes, always try for a landowner cancellation before appealing to PE
A LANDOWNER CANCELLATION IS ALWAYS BEST, NO MATTER WHO IS INVOLVED
however, do not miss the deadline of 28 days for appealing to PE on their website, as KEEPER (NO BLABBING ABOUT WHO WAS DRIVING) and using the BLUE TEXT APPEAL TEMPLATE from the NEWBIES FAQ STICKY THREAD near the top of this forum0 -
To repeat what I said in your Pepipoo thread:The Range aren't normally that sympathetic around their customers getting stung by PE, but it's worth a try anyway. Make sure you see the manager, and not a customer services person on the desk. Nursing mothers are (I believe) one of the 'protected characteristics' under the Equality Act 2010, where they have to give allowances, so worth asking them if they want to be on the wrong end of an Equalities Act case (politely, of course).
The signage probably was fairly clear, though PE are prone to having "entrapment areas" in their car parks where you can't necessarily see the signage. So it's worth going back to exactly the spot you parked, and check.0 -
If they refuse to cancel, write bad stuff on their website/Trust Pilot/Facebook Pages and give them some grief on Twitter.
This is an entirely unregulated industry which is scamming the public with inflated claims for minor breaches of contracts for alleged parking offences, aided and abetted by a handful of low-rent solicitors.
Parking Eye, CPM, Smart, and another company have already been named and shamed, as has Gladstones Solicitors, and BW Legal, (these two law firms take hundreds of these cases to court each year). They lose most of them, and have been reported to the regulatory authority by an M.P. for unprofessional conduct
Hospital car parks and residential complex tickets have been especially mentioned.
The problem has become so rampant that MPs have agreed to enact a Bill to regulate these scammers. Watch the video of the Second Reading in the House of Commons recently

and complain in the most robust terms to your MP. With a fair wind they will be out of business by Christmas. You never know how far you can go until you go too far.0 -
If the Store Manager is of no help then possibly write to the CEO, Nigel Oddy, or the founder, major shareholder and sole Director, Christopher Dawson.0

From what I have read, Mr Dawson could not give a rat's @rse about parking charges. You never know how far you can go until you go too far.0
