TalkTalk's CallSafe system is based on trueCall call-filtering technology, but built in to the phone network itself, as is the Sky Shield product available on Sky landlines.

The trueCall system challenges unrecognised callers to identify themselves. Only after they do so, does your phone actually ring. Any caller calling you via an auto-dialler simply cannot respond to that, so you are never bothered by them. Most scammers and spammers simply hang up. If they do speak, something which is extremely rare, you can simply reject the call and get on with your day.

This is a very effective method, unlike the rival BT Call Protect system which has a number of serious flaws.

I started using this a few months ago following some repeated nuisance selling and scam calls from various sources.
It was very simple to set up ( I am not particularly techy) and has been excellent.

I have had only one sales call in the last 6 months by one cheeky company who just left their name so I thought I must know him. I was quickly able to block him.

I would thoroughly recommend this system, it is very good and easy,
  • I tried it out the other day but when the first call came, the phone rang and when I picked up I heard both the message and the caller identifying themselves at the same time :rotfl: what use is that? I switched it off again.
  • Another vote here for Callsafe.:)

Since I activated Callsafe about 3 months ago, I have not received a single cold call.:j

I have been using the free call safe for three months now, and i am quite impressed with it. my nusience calls have fallen considerable to zero, i love the option that you can listen to the callers introduction and choose to ignore, accept or block

I work in a call centre and I hate these things. BT’s call guardian etc are an absolute pain in the neck. I should probably add in that I take community alarm calls and then get in touch with the service users contacts who are usually friends and family. The way the system is set up I call from a withheld number ☹️
