Hi,
Could you please advise how I inform the DWP that one of my children has ceased further education? When I logged into my UC account I couldn't see this option on the 'report a change' page.
I tried calling but gave up after 30minutes.
I've left a journal entry on the UC account as a last resort.
Surely this is a common change - but I can't see how to report it!?
thanks.

There is no option on UC report a change log in, because there is an automatic process in place.
Once your child leaves education, this is reported within Government systems, child benefit is stopped and then UC will remove the children element for the person is question.
Now this does not happen straightaway. From what I understand, after 1st of September, there is some data exercise carried out. They can then see who is not still in education and data is then sent to child benefit. Child benefit is stopped and this then in turn leads to UC removing the Children element.
You have sent the journal note anyway, so you have done your bit in reporting the change. It is now up to UC to ensure the change to your benefit is made per the above process.
If you think about it, if UC required every parent on UC to advise that their child had left education, there would be a specific option for this. They would also issue a reminder around June/July time. The comments I post are personal opinion. Always refer to official information sources before relying on internet forums. If you have a problem with any organisation, enter into their official complaints process at the earliest opportunity, as sometimes complaints have to be started within a certain time frame.0 -
Thanks all. I couldn't remember posting this one and having forgotten to change my email address on my profile I also didn't get any notifications! D'oh.
