we've been moved over onto .net and c# from another langauge with very little training - bit of a bug bear, been coding for years but want to get up to speed a bit quicker.

I was a C and C++ developer for years, I bought a teach yourself C# book and got on OK.
  • Coming from a Fortran background, I had to learn VB and .net.
As time was short, I didn't use books but installed Microsoft Visual Studio Express (free) on my home PC and concentrated on my specific work project making great use of Google.

As you're effectively learning on the job and you have existing coding skills then it should be fairly easy for you. I've been coding for years but one thing I never used was VB and VBA until my last job required some understanding and work on a legacy system, picked it up in no time and added another string to the old bow (although I'd doubt I'd use it again). There's always plenty of online resources to help.
