Unemployed but renting with partner

Hi all, I'm hoping you guys can offer me some advice.

I'm a student who is coming to the end of their degree and I will be finishing up at the end of September.

I plan on relocating and get a place to rent with my partner. His current lease ends at the end of this month (August) so we need to find somewhere to rent for him to move in then. I plan on finding a job in this new city I will be moving to but so far I haven't found anything yet - though technically I am still a student for another two months.

Now obviously we will have to undergo credit and reference checks before we can move in to any where and I was wondering if that fact that I don't have a job lined up yet would cause problems?

If it would help you to know my partner is more than capable of paying for the full rent amount by himself but I have sufficient savings that I will be able to cover my share any way while I look for a job.

If anyone can shed some light on whether or not this will be a problem please let me know.

Letting agent credit checks aren!!!8217;t really what you!!!8217;d expect; as long as you earn as a couple approx 30x the monthly rent per year you should be fine

The fact that a fixed term is coming to an end does not necessarily mean he has to move out at that point. Has your partner given notice or received a S21 notice from the landlord?

You may have more options that you think. G_M on this board has written an excellent guide to all aspects of renting.

He has received a S21 notice already from his landlord and his current flat he shares with two other people who will be moving out at the end of the month too.

I will check out G_M's guide to renting that you suggested, thanks!
