Malaria tablets in Tesco's - price warning!

I have just been to buy generic Malarone Atovaquone/Proguanil tablets in Tesco's, as I have done several times previously. Imagine my surprise when I was told that the price per tablet has increased from £1.39 this spring to £2.86 now! They did have over the counter packs, not requiring a consultation with the pharmacist, for under £2 per tablet, but it's still a big price hike. Had little choice as leaving at the weekend - my fault for just assuming that Tesco's would offer the same price as before.
I have found Travelpharm online sells generic tablets for £1.20. I know Asda was always £1.25, but no Asda nearby. If anyone can advise up to date prices from Asda or other sources, thanks, and to anyone else needing anti-malarials imminently, be warned and check Tesco's price in your local store as far in advance as possible!

Check that the medication is really required before purchasing. A lot of money is wasted on that sort of stuff.0

You may need different drugs for different areas. In some places resistance has developed for certain drugs which will be ineffective.
You need to do some research to be sure you have the right tablets.0 -

My thought... but I think that this whole thread is purely about generic malarone. Too many people do not consider other forms of prophylaxis.0
