Just had some work done on my car and while waiting to collect was reading the garages T & C's, and was surprised to see that if you make a warranty claim on a part they fit and supply, you are responsible for their labour costs to remove alledged faulty part for inspection and fitment of the replacement part.

Surely if they supply and fit, they are responsible for removal of a faulty part and fitting of a replacement ?

That would be my understanding. Your claim would be against the garage e.g. if your timing belt broke just after they replaced it, then the garage should fix your car for free. If the garage thinks the part was faulty they should repair your car and pursue a claim themselves with the parts supplier. Your claim is against the garage NOT the parts company.

+1. If you supply your own parts then yeah its tough luck and you're paying twice but if they supplied it they're responsible for it.

Exactly, I don't think its fair that if a garage supply and fit a part to my car that becomes faulty within its warranty period I should have to pay the garages labour charges to remove and replace it, even if they replace the faulty part free of charge.
