Anyone's bank rewritten history with their statements?

Hi all,
I have requested statements from Halifax from a few years back. I no longer use this account and wanted to reclaim old bank charges.
I am certain I incurred many charges prior to settling my debt. After a job loss the account was downgraded and the account number changed and eventually transferred to a debt collection agency and was settled some months later in full.
The statements arrived and lo and behold, not a single charge! The overdraft and everything is there though. Now unfortunately I don't have the old statements - the concertina file I kept them in was water damaged and as the account was settled I binned them. Dumb I know...
Anyone any advice, or has this happened to anyone else?
Also, their credit card department still hasn't sent out the statements I requested months ago. Any success with these for other people?

if it is within 6 years or even if it is not send them a subject access request and point out that the account was renumbered and there was a closed account as well and ask for all records that is kept under your name. Would your credit file have any clues?0

Thanks for that.
I will definitely work on an SAR letter tomorrow.
With regards to my credit file, I haven't done this yet. You wouldn't happen to know if the ones you can get online are accurate would you? The ones you pay for obviously. And if so can you recommend the best?
Thanks once again0
