night out in Manchester this Saturday

2.9K Posts

Evening all my daughter and her friend are coming to Manchester to stay overnight and have a few drinks to celebrate a birthday. They are both 19.
Someone has suggested the northern quarter as an area to head for. Is that somewhere they would be able to drink till early hours and have a dance (not a nightclub)
Also which would be the best travelodge or similar to be in the thick of the action but also walking/staggering distance to get the train back to Leeds on the Sunday.
Many thanks for any help/advice

Nothern quarter or Spinningfields.
Northern quarter is perfect for what you described. There are loads of different bars within walking distance from each other. I like Walrus, it has a downstairs bit for a dance and is quite nice.
Spinningfields is nicer and has more posh bars, but obviously more expensive. If its a Birthday then I would suggest Spinningfields over Northern Quarter. If you dont want clubs avoid Deansgate Locks!
20 stories (near spinningfields) has just opened up and has a view of the whole of Manchester - really nice for a quiet drink and has an outside area.
In terms of where to stay then it depends on budget, there are a few travel lodges and apartments in great ancoats (northern quarter) which has always been cheap enough. That is also close to the 3 train stations in Manchester, which train station is she travelling to/from?
I don't know if you go out in Leeds at all but her and her mates like the Call Lane area and would be great if there was somewhere similar in Manchester
