Nationwide Delays

Our chain has been stalled for a couple of weeks now waiting for Nationwide to make a decision for the buyer at the bottom. A very small issue that needs them to confirm valuation. Everything else is ready to go or exchange so people are getting a bit twitchy.
We had previously been told their turnaround time would usually be one week but it's been two with no sign of a resolution.
Does anyone know whether there is an issue at Nationwide at the moment in terms of turning around mortgage queries and is there is anything we (including the buyer at the bottom) can do to try and encourage them to speed things up?

I found Nationwide a nightmare to deal with to be honest, and I would be seriously put off getting another mortgage with them.
When we applied there were issues (they thought - they were incorrect) in our application, but instead of contacting us to sort them, they just put everything on hold until we contacted them to see what the hold up was.
Then they said "oh yes, there was a question about your application..." meaning that often nothing had been done for a week or two, putting us weeks further behind than we thought we were.
We ended up phoning almost every day to keep them on track and to check everything was OK, there was no contact from their part, despite me giving them our numbers more than once.
Tell them to keep badgering, it could well be that they have a query that needs addressed before they can make their decision!0 -
There are usually turnaround time metrics on lenders websites.
Otherwise the buyer at the bottom of the chain can phone up and find out whats going on surely?0 -
If it relates to the valuation it will have to be referred back to the surveyor before Nationwide can respond. This is often what takes the time.I am a mortgage broker. Thanks for the replies.
Happy to report that they have finally come back this morning - 2 weeks and 1 day since the original query. Maybe they felt my bad vibes through the ether!0
